Help! Broken oven

Only got it in 2007, we use fairly often but not every day or even every week. Just now I turned it on and all that works is the fan, ie the light in the oven doesn't come on, nor the red light next to the dials, and it doesn't heat up.
Should I call the engireer or, as I've lost my confidence in repairing and the costs that come with it, cut my losses and start shopping around for a new one?
Any comments much appreciated.

I've no specific advice to give really other than try "googling" the make and model and problem to see if anyone else has had the same. It may be something very simple that can be resolved yourself or they may be able to say what they've done and how much it cost to give you an idea.0
