The first 4 (or maybe 6) numbers on the card denote the issuer so they'll know it's one of theirs. But as soon as they enter the details on their system it'll flag up anyway.
You can transfer from MBNA to MBNA via your current account though. They call it a 'money transfer' and it has a 4% fee attached. Beware though, you're likely to be declined/have a poor limit granted if you already have a balance on another MBNA run card.
If you're chasing a lower monthly payment, then the Halifax/BoS Plus cards also have the same 1% minimum payment...and a similar 13 month duration.0 -
Personal experience is that MBNA are starting to refuse second cards. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

May I ask whether the balance on your old MBNA card was zero when you applied unsuccessfully?
It was when I'd applied unsuccessfully a few weeks ago.
It also was when I applied successfully a couple of years ago.
Times are tougher now, but actually my overall credit position has improved. So I concluded there might have been a policy change.0 -

Yes. I was told the first time that it was because I had only recently come out of a promotional period. Applied again nine months later only to be turned down again and the agent hinted that there had indeed been a change. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
