can i move strawberry plants

iwant to move my strawberry plants as they have now finished, and they have loads of runners so i was thinking.....

if i got a couple of big boxes (the type the council give out for recycling) and planted them in there would they be ok? i need to trim off the XS leaves and i could get some plant pots and peg down the runners in some compost?

would this work? i need the room in the bed. being a newbie i couldn't wait to get stuck in and start growing. didn't give tooo much thought long term about making the best of the space available.

Have they got drainage holes?

Provided none of the runners have rooted this should work fine. Try to disturb the main plant as little as possible i.e. get as much of the rootball without losing any soil.

If you want to keep the original strawberries in that place and move the offshoots to a new place.. just get pots and bury the offshoots in the pots of soil...

when they have taken root then cut them off from the main plants and move to new spot

If you do not want to keep them there.. just dig them up and move to new place.. they do last ..just watch out for mold within the soil in the pots..

the boxes have got holes. im growing my sprouts in them at the mo.
i have aquired a few more-and no i didn't pinch the neighbours boxes. lol

that will be my next project.
