well, you have my support with this campaign.
I find it difficult to comment, as your efforts have been so comprehensive.
Insurance premium loading just because of a BR flag, actually puzzles me immensely.
I actually fail to see how a BR can present a greater risk..?
Maybe, with our loaded insurance premiums, we should actually make every possible claim allowed? Get some money back?
Yup, I know, that would be counter-productive in a sense.
Without doing a search, perhaps a list of those insurers who do not have concerns over BR, might be useful?
As a separate stickie, perhaps? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
I have been watching this post from the beginning, and tried to discuss the ramifications of the recent 'right to appeal case' regarding peado's, who felt their 'human rights' had been refringed upon being place on a listing for life -(noting that only those who comment sex crimes do not get placed on the listing unless they serve more then a 3 year sentence). I felt that if such a case was won, would this not also open the door for BR's to have the right to appeal regarding the london gazette listing?
I know the comparison is extreme, but what other instance does ones name stay on a listing for life? Like your query states it effects those BR for life alongside those who reside with the BR, they also are being found quilty by mere association, which surely can not be right, as they are not the ones who went BR?
I have never understood what BR has to do with Insurance, as I did not have any accidents or claims prior to my BR and have not had any since. Therefore where is the risk? They must receive my payment either in advance or monthly to validate the policy without so the policy is invalid.
I would be interested to know if this is something that might be of interest to you or have you already tried to research this by infringement of 'human rights' surely everyone has the right to be redeemed?

I've never been asked by an insurance company to disclose my prior bankruptcy. Some have seen the BR for themselves when doing an unrecorded check on my credit file and it doesn't lead to a decline.
I currently have an excellent insurance deal, bank account with overdraft, mobile phone contract, and low APR loan despite being previously bankrupt.
I don't see the problem personallyCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Use the big price comparison sites, they all ask this. See what results you get without declaring bankruptcy then what you get if you don't. Then the cheapest ones when you don't declare bankruptcy, go to their website and read the smallprint. They either ask a bankruptcy question outright or make an assumption that you haven't, then put in smallprint you must tell them if you cannot agree to all assumptions.
Then they may accept you by phone, they may not. It takes a lot of effort to get some decent cover in this scenario.
Believe me, if this wasn't an issue I wouldn't have invested the hours on this that I have so far.0 -

When we told the AA that we were BR it resulted in our house insurance doubling  the year after that we got our renewal through, had not claimed the year before and it went up by another £100 :eek::eek:
So, up from £116 to £430 for contents just because of BR!! I consider that to be a problem.
Needless to say we didn't renew and I went to the Yorkshire Bank, the lady who sorted it out was shocked that other insurers ask about BR and even said we could pay monthly. They are another good bank and don't seem to hold it against us for being BR.
Oh and the AA have refused to respond to my letters of complaint. They also messed up our last dd and the girl I spoke to was very rude, I think they don't like BR people!!0 -
hi, Doucam..
the AA seem to be gathering a 'history' of administrative problems..often resulting in temporary financial loss to customers....[they are no longer the friendly motoring organisation of old]
there is a thread on the Motoring section regarding their breakdown cover and automatic renewal....this is also insurance-based these days.
Did you pursue the renewal quote with a phone call?
In this respect [renewals] the AA seem to have become a bunch of chancers....no doubt hoping the dirty deed will be done before a customer really notices [the very worse use, IMHO, of 'customer lethargy' as a tool for business]...
Often a call to their customer services, to inform one will not renew, results in serious offers being made. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Yeah we did Alistair, but Yorkshire Bank came up with a better offer, and we were so cross with the way the AA have carried on that we decided to leave them anyway.0

funny that..so did I....
in my case I'm at that sort of age where tolerance has a very low threshold....
I no longer have that feeling of 'being obliged'....
never in my whole life has my middle finger had so much exercise pointing skywardsNo, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Yeah same here Alistair, we are now that bit older and wiser and have realised that actually we don't have to take that crap any more and can do what we want to do! and we do0

I am still waiting for a reply from ABI about this.
In the meantime, planning for a negative outcome with them, I would really like some views on a possible next step I have been contemplating.
The EU Human Rights act is controversial at the moment but there have been some cases where the steer was to disregard convictions etc. after so long. I think if I do some homework it may be it is against the principles of the act to take into account something of this matter (and even potentially stopping lenders asking a perpetual question, stopping the Gazette publishing the info online after so long etc).
With that in mind, what are people's honest opinions about me approaching perhaps some universities to ask if they will consider pro bono work on this case?
I appreciate all feedback on this, I want to know views - good or bad - but please be constructive with them.
Thanks0
