    Hi

I'm back. We arrived with 5 mins to spare (after going to the wrong bit of the court) and after a 5 minute wait paid, had the forms checked and swore my oath (all through the glass window with everyone in the waiting room listening:eek:) There was a slight hiccup when she saw we had a Reading address but once we explained it was OK. We then had to come back at 11.30. We were a bit early but the lady had just come back (the forms were fresh off the printer, still warm) and she said that the OR will be in touch in a few days and if our creditors call just give them my number and that the OR will be in touch. There were more than 2000 people made BR before me this year in Bristol so far this year
Anyway its now done and I'm going to trundle down to the Coop bank now and see if they will give me an account.
It feels odd after I've been waiting over a year for it to happen but it is the next step in our journey. Its progress.

I'm going to treat myself to coffee and a cake now
I hope this reassures anyone going down the same road

    Hi again

Well the phone rang about 2 o'clock and it was the ORs assistant asking if I could answer a few questions to decide whether I needed to go in or do a phone interview (efficient huh!)
40 minutes later I now have a list of things to send them and an appointment for next Monday.
The only hiccup is that because the car is in my name and don't need it for work (but hubby does) they might take it:eek: All of it. After a panicky moment the lady said could I prove if OH has paid towards buying it (his old car was the trade in against it so we are hoping this will be enough to allow it to be exempt)
Have you noticed that nothing is simple
I'm not going to allow it to wind me up until I have a definate answer but no car is a real problem. No car and OH won't be able to get to work. And of course we can't get credit cos OH is only recently discharged.

    Anyway

    Hi again

I thought I'd keep you up to date on my progress so far. The forms from the OR arrived yesterday so I collected everything together and have sent them back today (her assistant had asked if I could try to have them back to her for my phone interview on Monday)
Strangely I got quite teary and emotional. Stupid I know:confused: but I feel much better now the forms are in the post box.
I also went into the Coop bank and applied for a Cashminder account. OH already banks with them and as usual they were polite and non judgemental:T
I'm still not looking forward to the OR phoning on Monday but now I've taken the jump I've just got to get on with it.

I'll keep you up to date when I've had my interview because I know that other peoples reports of interviews have helped me not to feel quite so overwhelmed by it all so hopefully mine will help newbies who are just starting the process.

    Bye for now

Thanks for the update Cuddles...one things for sure your NOT daft for getting upset...its a hell of a ride bankruptcy & your feelings some days will be all over the place...one things for sure it gets better!

good luck with the OR interview (its not really half as bad as your imagining it will be)..trick is be honest & open answer the questions they ask & ask any you need to...try not to feel the urge to waffle on the phone while its quiet (the examiner writes up notes)

    You'll be fine!

    Hi again

Well I've just had my interview with the OR. It lasted all of 10 minutes and she made the decision that they are taking the car. Granted it is my only assett but it is also our only form of transport including how OH gets to work. I'm not at all happy. OH can't get credit and his trustee already takes every spare penny. BR is supposed to be a fresh start not punishment well I feel punished.
Sorry if this sounds selfish but we moved to the other end of the country away from family and friends to get work and I am just fed up with the whole thing. I feel like we are being punished for something that was out of our control.
    Sorry if this upsets anyone
    I just needed to vent

Hi cuddles, send debtdoctor and debtinfo a PM and ask them to look at this thread and see if they can come up with something for you to fight to keep the car, you never know.
