Hi,
Thanks for reading. Some friends got booted off a forum recently for upsetting the admin  and at the moment the 5 concerned and their supporters are gathering on Facebook but I think it will probably become too large and unwieldy for that soon as more people join.
Does anyone know if here is a cheap/free way to host a forum? It wouldn't need a lot of bells and whistles - just basic posting stuff to organise meets and keep in touch. Would ads help or does a forum ned to be a reasonable size before advertisers would touch it?
The people running it will be in the States I don't know if that makes any difference at all.
Any thoughts would be most welcome and I will pass them along.

I have a site at albastru.co.uk, not commercial, not being used much, with forum, they are welcome to use that, I can set some of them as administrators of the forum
Andrew Rimmer 2009If you think it will take more than 3 hours to fix a software problem it is probably quicker to reinstall windows. 30 mins to install windows, 2½ hours to reinstall all your nice software0 -
the best bet is to get your own hosting, https://www.no-wires.co.uk do some from £15 per year (i use this)
then download smf forum from simplemachinesforum.org
install it, you will need to set the db up before hand
then using the theme directory at smf website, you can choose from hundreds of different variations of themes
if this does seem to bit beyond you, i can help you install the forum, just pm me if you need some helpSilenced by the Gestapo :rotfl:0 -
Thank you to all who have replied. I will pass the information on.0
