Missed JSA meeting...

Just this second realised that I got my weeks mixed up. I was supposed to sign on last thursday (30/7) not this thursday. It's only my second official sign on meeting, will my claim be affected because of this? Obviously I'll call Monday and explain, but is there a form or something that I need to fill out?
Thanks
Steven

Nope, you'll be okay but they will issue you a letter saying if you miss another one your benefits will be stopped. They'll probably be !!!!!! to you too like they were for me. I was 5 minutes late to one and they !!!!!ed at me, gave me a letter saying don't do it again, and sent me home across town and said come back in 2 hours.
Last week I signed on and I had to wait 45 minutes while people around me got called. They kept saying "Oh yeah you'll be called soon".
I don't see them getting a rude letter and being sent home !0 -
Actually, your claim can be closed and you could be made to make a rapid reclaim, it operates differently in different areas in my experience.0

Depends how busy the Jobcentres are depending on the sanctions imposed. You need to get in touch with them and explain and they will give you an appointment to sign. You should do this within 5 days of the appointment or you will have your claim shut down.
You have signed an agreement saying you will be 15 minutes before your appointment time and due to the number of customers in the Jobcentres you definitely can't be even one minute late or it !!!!!!s the whole schedule. Normally you need two consecutive lates/ failures to attend before your claim is closed or you are sanctioned.0 -

What about the Dunstable office? Would they close the claim for one missed appointment? Would they not pay me for the last two weeks and how does the rapid reclaim work?
Thanks for the replies.

To be honest, they way they would look at it where I used to work is that you were given a booklet with the first two dates on it, you would have had to sign to say you received that, therefore there was no excuse for getting mixed up.0 -
I've no idea how it works in Dunstable - the way it works where I used to work is that you are disallowed from the day before you were due to sign until the date you attend the office to get everything sorted again. If you didnt sign at all and left it more than 5 days then you would lose the two weeks.

This is the official guidance - if you can't provide evidence of good cause within 5 days then your claim will be closed and you'll need to reclaim - with the reclaim day being the day you made contact. You will be given the opportunity to give your reasons, but getting the days muddled up is no excuse. Also, it's not the JS who will decided, but a decision maker, so you'll need to wait for the answer.0 -
You go in and give your reason for not coming in. Certain things wont need to be sent for a decision and are just accepted but most reasons, including simply forgetting get sent to a decision maker. They'll send up the exact reason you give them so give as much information as possible, including anything which you feel may have caused you to forget. If the reason is accepted then a full 2 weeks payment will get put through and arrive 3 working days after you sign. If it's disallowed then they pay you for the 2 weeks, not including the day you didn't come in (so 13 days money) your claim gets closed and you fill in a form to re-open it from that day.
If you're income based then you're losing those days, If you're contributions based you'll still be entitled to your 182 days so the days you've lost between thursday and Monday (assuming you go in tomorrow) will get added on at the end of your conts claim (If conts ran out on the 1st of December they'd now run out on 5th of December instead.)Bought, not Brought0 -

Yeah, I just forgot so they'll probably close it. The form to re-open that day, will they give it to me right then and there? Can I just ask them to close it without going through a decision maker (to save time)?
Thanks for all the info, I guess I won't be forgetting in the future.

Yes, I'd imagine you could fill in your ES40 card (card with your signing time on it) to close your claim from the day before you were due to sign, however they then may not give you the form to re-open your claim and may isntead tell you to call up the new claim line for a 40 minute call.
Personally I'd suggest jsut going through the Decision Maker and getting the form, it wont take long, if the decision maker gets a request that jsut says "I forgot" then they should get back to disallow it pretty much straight away, at least that way you can then fill in a form rather than phone up, in fact you could ask to start filling in the form whilst they wait for the decision maker to get back to them and they may allow this knowing it will be disallowed anyway.Bought, not Brought0 -
I did this a while back, got my weeks mixed up (it was easter bank hols and stuff so it confused my routine:o)
Anyway i was honest and said i'd simply got the dates wrong, and they closed my claim, so i had to do a new claim. It was supposed to be a rapid reclaim but they c*cked up and couldn't do a rapid so i had to do a full new claim.
But my reason for posting was that i sign on a Friday so didn't do new claim til the Monday, and claim was closed Friday, new one started Monday - so i lost 2 days money.0
