in Credit cards
I'm in a big mess with my credit cards
I've been tarting for a couple of years and haven't yet managed to shake a £5,000+ debt
9m at 0% came to an end last month so I took up Halifax's offer of a 6.96%
When I got my statement I realized that I had fallen into a typical trap. A couple of regular payments went through which I had overlooked so I now have a sum of money sitting there at a higher rate of 19.9% and I know that means that it will remain so until the £5000 is paid off which could take me years.
Ironically I just received a huge credit limit increase (nearly 10 grand) and then I received Credit card cheques both with Halifax.
The cheques will give me 0% on balance transfers, holidays, home improvements, gifts & treats etc and carry a 2% charge
If it were another card I would have jumped on it
If I could quickly transfer the balance to another of my cards then transfer it back using a CC cheque I would but I only have til 2nd May
I really cant think of a solution
Does anyone have any ideas? I'd be grateful for any advice
