CRAPital One.....

I was going to post this last night but so bloody annoyed I thought better calm down first.
I've been sorting out my credit cards, got rid of two this week all paid off and cancelled, which leaves me with three, and in doing so I am the best part of £300 per month better off, so as I'm getting married next year (again) I wanted to up the credit limit on my Capital One card by £500-£750 in order to pay for a few bits and bob's.
So I phone Capital One up and my god what an ignorant rude person did I speak to.
I explained what and why I wanted a rise, to be told ''If you deserve a rise you will get a rise when the accounts are checked every month, and do not phone again unless it is for something else''
I asked him to explain what he meant by'DESERVE'.
He then said ''You have paid late in the past and we have no confidence in you.''
I pointed out to him I have never been late once in the 7 years I have had a Capital One card, and that his attitude was disgusting. not to mention that I have a positive balance of £12 on the account.
I asked to speak to his supervisor and he stated he would look into the matter but that I must understand that as I have been a poor customer in the past they would need 6 months worth of good payments before they could look at a credit limit rise.
Again I pointed out that I HAVE NEVER PAID LATE and I was in credit.
So last night here comes the phone call from someone who had looked into the matter and yes they got it wrong and they were sorry.
I asked this chap if he was in a position to grant a credit limit rise and he said '' Yes and we would like to offer you a rise of £1500.''
I said are you able to close the account now as well to which he replied ''Yes''
So I told him to close the account and stick it where the sun....etc etc, and send my cheque for £12 back.
I cetainly have zero confidence in CRAPital One.
Aiming to be debt free....but still off target

  • More to the point they DO record the calls - you should write in and complain - see if you can get any compensation - if you have the date and time of the call you could be on to something!! Good Luck!

    I think because they recorded the call, that's why they came back with a higher limit than I requested, but after thinking about it and thanks to Martin's excellent advice I dont need them anymore.

    i applied and was accepted by capital one for a standard credit card and they lost my first payment.They tried to blame it on my bank which in turn blamed it on them!It transpired that it wasthe fault of capital one but by the time they sorted it out they charged me for missed payment which they never reimbursed me for even though it was their fault!I can honestly say that i think this company is appalling and totally incompetent so your not the only one whos mad with them i still am after a year!needless to say i will never use them or recommend them to anyone again!

    Crikey that is very very bad customer service, I think I would of jumped down the phone and ripped his throat out!! :mad:

    Oh please......yes it was crap service, but for people to suggest asking for compensation? Have we moved to America or something?
