Best way to clean central heating system?

Hi all,

I've installed a spirovent Air and Dirt:

On my central heating system and also upgraded the previous Grundfos 15/50 central heating pump to a Grundfos 15/60. I started to notice last year the rads were not warming up as well as they used to.

I wondered what the best methodology would be to clean my system without the need for a power flush how would I go about it. My initial thoughts are:

(1) Close off all the vales on the radiators
(2) Set the Pump on level / position 3 the highest setting
(3) Put on central heating system
(4) Then open one rad at a time for about 5 minutes so the sludge can be taken away to be caught by the Spirotect air and dirt device.

Repeat cycle above for 2 -3 times hopefully the sludge can then be removed from the air and dirt filter. After this then dose the system with a new chemical inhibitor.

Does any one else think of a better way of cleaning the system without the need or a complete drain down of the system?

Hi...dose the system with X400 first...but if the system isn't drained down you're not going to rid of all the carp just via the Spirovent....try this in conjunction. Alternatively you can rent a powerflush machine
