    so theyre clearly selling items that arent nearly brand new and then state they would prefer cash payment! tht would put me off as i would have liltte comback that the item is not as described!

    There's still plenty of comeback, via UK law and the small claims court.

    Don't assume all non paypal transactions are somehow unsafe.

    Cash on delivery is a much better system for both buyer and seller.

    However OP should have had a good look at the sofas before handing over the cash.

    Well, Result, Seller called me today and has arranged for a replacment which is being delivered tomorrow!

    He was really nice about it !

    I suppose our instant reactions are to presume people are on this planet to rip us off ! But the bloke was very apologetic!

    Will be inspecting fully tomorrow!!

    Well Replacement arrived and I cannot fault it !

    He even threw in some extra cushions!

    All in all, very very pleased!!
