Hi, i know i've been asking ALOT of questions lately as i'm new to Amazon, so sorry
you probably think i'm an idiot
Anyway, basically i'll be putting up several books worth £20 and a few other stuff worth £30+
What is the best way to send it using Royal Mail. I've read on a few threads that i should send special delivery however, just in case i make a mistake, could you please tell me :T
Once again, many thanks :A
Nikita

Just send it normal post. Get proof of posting that will cover you for up to £39 with RM0

Just remember that postage costs are fixed on Amazon so any additional postage you want to use comes out of your profit. Personally I send everyhing under £39 second class on Amazon as the postal credit is only around £2.40 after fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Is it not worth getting what i think is called signed for but not sure?? Because what i am sending will be worth over £30, but is very small, and weighs 130g approximately. So i wouldn't mind paying an extra 75p or whatever to make sure its delivered. Anything you can recommend?MSE allowed me to see the light0

Basically can anyone tell me how to send through Royal Mail "valuable" items. Is there a thing where you pay 75p extra and then its signed for? Can some one please tell me as i need to know the cost of sending this before i list it?
If possible could you tell me the full price of sending it? So will it be the same as sending a packet, but you pay extra for the signed for bit or...?
Please help!!MSE allowed me to see the light0 -
You are thinking of recorded. That (in theory) gets a signature on delivery but in many areas it won't, or it won't get logged, or whatever. You don't get any more protection as it is the same amount of cover and it gets sent with the regular post. Just get a certificate of posting from the post office (which is free). That covers you up to £39. Oh and: http://sg.royalmail.com/portal/rm/PriceFinder?catId=23500532&gear=pricingcalc
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

I know TurkishDelight has already answered but I thought I would add that the 75p you pay for recorded is added onto the cost of any postal service you use.
The RM service for valuable goods, ie those over £39 is special delivery and the prices are here:

If you opt to sell overseas then of course you need different rates and for tracked and signed for items it can be very expensive indeed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I see. So your saying despite £30 being alot (to me :P), It's not worth getting it recorded? Because the original postage for this £30 item will cost me £1.62 for first class postage so won't be too bad, and i wouldn't mind paying the extra 75p just for the peace of mind.MSE allowed me to see the light0

There is absolutely nothing at all to stop you paying the extra 75p to use recorded as long as you appreciate that you get no extra insurance because of it. Recorded should give you a signature on arrival which would make it easier to defend an Amazon A - Z claim, but the reality is that in many areas a signature is not obtained.
If the item is lost then the claim situation is the same regardless of whether recorded is used or not.
If you are new then you might want to use recorded for a while until you find your feet if that makes you feel more comfortable and that is a perfectly acceptable business plan. Just remember though that you are paying that 75p from your profits as you will need to match the prices of others who don't bother using it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
