Credit Report - incorrect Alias

Hello, im new to this site but was hoping someone could help with a question i have.
I have just checked my credit report through Experian and i am listed as having an alias which is in fact my mothers name. So i have all my mothers debts and loans listed against my name.
This information was given by GE Money Lending Solution LTD in 2006. I have never had any dealings with GE Money lending solution so im wondering why they would say that my name is connected with my mothers name. If i have never had any dealings with them how would they have my name?
I have never had any financial associations with my mother the only thing we have in common is that we live at the same address.
Has anyone had this problem and how do i get my mothers debts off my credit report?
I have emailed Experian but i have not had a response yet.
Many Thanks

Hi
You will need to file a 'notice of disassociation' to remove the link between you and your mother.
I had this some years ago, with my mother showing on my credit file, and the link was removed by Experian very quickly once I'd requested the disassociation.

I have a similar problem to this. Except the alias on my file doesn't exist so god knows where its come from!!
For talkings sake lets say my name is Miss Katrina Jones, and being pedantic its always listed on credit reports in capitals MISS KATRINA JONES. But i somehome have an alias listed on my Experian report of MISS BE JONES.
Its come from Shop direct limited, i dont even know who they are! I have no outsanding defaults and nothing whatsoever naughty on my file but i dont want lenders to wonder why i have an alias when i dont!! I vaguely remember doing a one off purchase from a catalogue years ago which would have been paid for at the time i ordered I'm sure. Its down as an account applied for on 9/2/2001, settled on 9/7/2006 in my correct name but the date of the imaginary alias itself is listed as 30/12/06. So where on earth has this BE JONES randomly come from?? I wouldn't have ordered under a random name, my handwriting is clear and i'd have phoned up if i'd realised they had my details incorrect.
The only possible way i can think the error has happened is that my Dad's initial is B. But his name isnt BE!! When i supposedly actually applied for the account i lived at my parents, but when the alias actually went on my file i didnt. I'm just very confused where this has come from! I have no financial connection at all with my parents address any more, everything had been transfered over to my current address for well over 5 years.
I'm going to phone Experian in the morning but i dont want to end up linking myself to my parents somehow. I have no financial links to anyone and I'd like to keep it that way!!
Will Experian just remove it as its obviously just a mistake, or will i have to get onto Shop direct and make them find out where they got it from?? I dont particularly want a notice of correction going on my account as this will mean all appliactions will have to be looked at manually in future, which i assume is hindrance rather than a help.
Can i disassociate myself from someone who doesn't exist? Any advice appreciated!!0 -
I had a similar problem, although the alias had a completely different christian name to me and a different DOB, it was recorded by Halifax at a time someone was applying for credit fraudulently in my name.
As Halifax had never actually opened an account in my name, or the alias they couldn't remove the information.
I went through the Experian email contact thingy and explained the situation and I have to say they were fantastic. They wrote to Halifax and asked them for consent to remove the infomation and put a note of correction on my file until it had been done. As soon as the entry was removed so was the NoC.
So hold fire until you get a reply from Experian, hopefully they'll be as helpful for you as they were with me.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Just to update - i've just phoned Experian and the woman really sounded like she couldnt be bothered. I actually considered offering to shoot her because she just sounded so bored and cheesed off. Anyway, she said she'll raise a query with Shop Direct and it usually taken 3-4 weeks to sort out.
So i phoned Shop Direct myself, gave them all the dates of opening account, alias created and date settled and a very helpful man called Kevin looked through everything and saw nothing has ever actually been done in the imaginary alias name. But the date ties in with when Littlewoods were bought out by someone else and the accounts transfered over. It looks like its just been a computer blip, or some half asleep overworked doris in an office somewhere hitting a wrong key. He has emailed all three credit ref agencies and explained, he says its just up to them now, but should all be sorted by 14 days at the very most.:D Good result.0
