Aldi Medion HDDrive 2 Go - 1 terrabyte

I went all over Nottinghamshire to get one of these 1 terrabyte hard drives so I could slot it into the e-sata slot in my Medion computer. Have just discovered that despite them both having e-sata slots and being the same make, the 1 terrabyte hard drive, unlike my 320 gig HDDrive 2 Go, doesn't fit into the e-sata slot on the computer. How stupid is that? The guy in support told me that I had to buy an adaptor from their shop, when I checked it out that adaptor doesn't incorporate an e-sata slot so wouldn't be any use.
I feel really angry with Medion.

That's surprising - SATA and e-SATA connectors are different, but both are pretty much fully standardised, and I've never come across any that won't fit, though some are a tighter fit than others.
If the sales literature says that it is e-SATA compatible (i.e. designed for external use in it's own caddy) and it won't plug into an e-SATA connector on the back of your PC then it's not fit for purpose, and you should be entitled to your money back.0 -
Thanks. It appears to be because unlike the 320 gig drive which takes its power from the Medion computer, this one has to have a separate power supply which also plugs in at the back, next to the e-sata slot, so forcing the whole thing forward so it can't plug into the e-sata slot. My husband has looked at the power slot on the computer and says that it is a different configuration to the one on the 1 terabyte hard drive.
