Very noisey toilet when flushed!

My toilet keeps making a really loud noise when you flush it, it sounds a bit like a fog horn on a ship! You can hear it throughout the whole house and it sounds like it rattles through the pipes to the boiler?
I can't see anything blocking the cistern, the water level looks right and I'm out of ideas now.
Does anyone know what this could be or anymore ideas on things I can check for?
Thanks!

It sounds as if the water pressure is too high.
If there is a valve on the pipe supplying the water to the cistern try turning it down, if there is not, then try tuning the stop valve down.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Coming from the cistern there is a pipe with what I think might be an on off valve... it's got a little screw like bit that you can put a flat screwdriver in. When I flushed the loo then turned this, the water stopped filling up, hence why I'm guessing it's an on off thing! The noise stopped but when I turned it back to let the water fill up the noise came back really loudly!
I've tried turning it slowly but the noise just goes nuts!0 -
That is the stop valve. Try opening it fully then close it slightly to reduce the pressure. Experiment to see if a pressure reduction solves or reduces the problem. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Good afternoon: Check the ball valve washer in the toilet cistern....lots of 'How To...' available online.
