How do we find out what spec our eMac is ?

Options
Hi Guys

My wife has an Apple eMac Power PC G4 that shes's had for a few years and we decided she wants to upgrade to MAC OSX Tiger but she only has 128 mb of ram which is not enough to run tiger, but she doesnt know much about computers and i'm a Windows guy and dont really know the first thing about Apples.
The thing is apparently the type of memory you need for your eMac depends on what eMac you have , e.g. : 800mhz - 1ghz, or 1.25 ghz etc, and she doesnt know and i have no idea, i know on Windows i can go to System properties and find out what processor im running etc, and i'm sure you can do the same on a Mac, i just dont have the first clue how to find out.
Can anyone out there give me some advice / pointers on finding out, and also if anyone has upgraded their eMac some advice on what to do and the best way to go about it.
Cheers ,

As you look at the screen you should see the Apple symbol in the top left hand corner. If you click on that symbol you will see 'About this Mac'
& other messages for software update, system preferences etc,
Click on the 'About this Mac' & it will tell you what version of OSX you are on, processor speed and how much ram you have installed. From this you should be at least be able to go to Crucial's website & find out how much extra ram will be.
You can also go to Apples web site & find out exactly how much extra Ram you can install on your eMac once you know its spec's.
Its probably best if your eMac is connected to the net to run Software update ( also in the top left drop down menu) before installing OSX Tiger.
The Mac OS is a good stable Operating system but will your wifes eMac will definetly benefit from some more Ram for sure if you intend to keep the machine. Hope this helps :)
