I have a 3 year old and have not worked in the last year - I have just found out i am 2months pregnant. Can i claim maternity allowance if i have not worked ?? (I am unemployed at present)
what would be my best option?
should i get a job to try and get MA or will i get help in some other way. (If i only get say £40 a week how much MA would i get)
or will i be able to claim anything else ie Income support or something.
I do have a partner who works full time, will this affect what i can get.
I AM SOOO CONFUSED - ANY ADVICE AT ALL WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! THANKS
will i be bale to get sure start grant if i dont work but partner does ?

You only qualify forMA if you've been employed and/or self-employed for at least 26 weeks in your 'test period' (66 weeks up to and including the week before the week your baby is due).
You wont be entitled to IS as you have a partner that works and, as you are not working, you aren't actually losing any income anyway.
If your partner works you will only qualify for the sure start grant if you receive more than the family/baby element of tax credits.0 -
As above! I dont think you will qualify for the sure start grant as you wont be getting the family element of tax credits
You will be able to apply for the HIP grant of £190 though, everybody gets that0
