Internet Explorer Not Responding!

Hello All,
Non-techie person here!
Please could someone help point me in the right direction?
For this past week if I have more than 2 windows open in IE, my laptop gets the "not responding" message and I have to restart the program.
As you can imagine it gets quite frustrating.
I should think I have too many other applications running which is causing it to slow down/not respond but I do not know how to find out what is running or how to rectify this problem.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium.
No idea on spec, so if someone needs these details please tell me where to find them!
Would appreciate any help please.
Many thanks for reading.

Thanks for that.
I've just looked at that option and it warns me that I will lose all toolbars, passwords, etc.
Does anyone know if it will lose all my Roboform passwords, log ins, etc?
Need to know if I have to save them somehow first?
Thank you.

How much RAM do you have installed? Vista needs absolute minimum of 2GB, preferably 3GB.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Well you could do with an upgrade to 3 or 4GB, but I doubt it's the cause of your problem. No free lunch, and no free laptop

One of the things i would suggest is use Firefox its far far more secure and has various extentions like Roboform you can get it from................... HERE
And if you wanted you can get Roboform that works with Firefox from ......... HERELightbulb Moment  Sept 2006

Youll lose everything thats stored in internet explorer
But if you want it to stop freezing then its either that or shut them down one by one until you find the culprit (Spybots a known problem for example):idea:0 -
I did this and did not lose my roboform info but you may lose it from IE menus at the top and have to go to tools (in robo form) in the bottom right icon of windows to restart it (at least thats what I did your system my differ.
I had IE freezing and found it to be Zonealarm which I had to uninstall and then found COMODO firewall instead (free as well) which has cured my IE freezing.Look after the pennies and the pounds will spend themselves0 -

That seems to have done the trick! :T
So much faster today and I can open more than one window so fingers crossed it will stay this way.
Thanks to everyone for your help.
EDIT: just saw "not responding" at top of page and though "oh no, not already!" - then I realised it was just my subject line!
lol
