Has anyone here asked powergen how much they charge for capping the price till 2010???
I have and the answers are a little startling and nothing short of confusing!!!
this is one of the email responses that I got from them
I am sorry that the level of service you received from us was poor.
I've included below the prices for our Capped tariff and our Standard tariff so you can compare the difference in prices. The premium is up to a maximum of £256 per year; however this depends on the amount of electricity and gas used.
Capped Price until 01 March 2010 Electricity
First 225 daytime units per quarter charged at 18.42p per kWh
All remaining units charged at 9.72p per kWh
Capped Price until 01 March 2010 Gas
First 1143 kWh per quarter charged at 4.55p per kWh
All remaining units used charged at 2.509p per kWh
Standard Electricity
First 225 daytime units per quarter are charged at 15.42p per kWh
All remaining units charged at 9.72p per kWh
Standard Gas
First 1143 kWh per quarter charged at 3.156p per kWh
All remaining units used charged at 2.510p per kWh
If you have any further questions please call me on 0800 056 3747.
thats one response to how much they charge for capping prices (this is after 2 phone calls to powergen)
this is the response I got from them asking why the above info is not on there website:
The way in which the premium on our capped prices is calculated is as follows:
The electricity primary rate is an extra 3 pence per unit and the gas primary rate is an extra 1.4 pence per unit. The secondary rates are the same as the standard prices.
The primary rate applies to the first 900 kWh per year of electricity and 4572 kWh of gas. This works out at an additional £91 per year.
I'm sorry that this information is not explained clearly on our website.
so they apologise for not showing it on the site. I wonder if they will show it and which info will they show £91 a year or up to £256 a year??
I'm still confused
