US Ebayer has bought a UK/PAL PS2 game

Hi everyone
I've recently had someone purchase one of my old playstation 2 games on a BIN. When I went to invoice them I noticed they were in the USA. In the auction in the item specifics it was shown as UK/PAL and also if I was from the USA purchasing from Ebay.co.uk I would assume it was the UK version. I also made sure I mentioned it was the UK version when I invoiced him.
I have now received an Ebay message saying the game doesn't work on his PS2 as it is the UK version and how he can play it or send it back for a refund.
I told him he can only play an import if his PS2 is chipped and if he wants to have a refund it will be minus the postage cost on the auction.
I didn't send it tracked as it is a low value item but its very annoying as this is the buyer's fault for not checking to see whether he could play imported games before he bought it. Even though I don't have the item tracked I do have a message through Ebay admitting he received the item.
Where do I stand with regards to any Paypal claim and what would be your coiurse of action if you were in my position?
Thank you

Are you a private or business seller? If you're a business you'll have to let him return it. Private sellers aren't obliged to, but most would offer. Either way, as it's the buyer's fault, they pay the return postage.
If they tell Paypal they didn't recieve the item, ring them explaing that you've had communication from the buyer stating receipt (might not get you anywhere, but worth a try...).
It might also be worth changing your buyer requirements to block non-UK bidders.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.
