Cruises: Beats any package holiday...

My gilfriends father has been going on OV twice a year every year since it started, he is a very picky person and cannot fault it.
We went for two weeks with them this march and it was excellent...i can see peoples points of a bit butlins (not that ive been) but we had a fantastic time and will be looking to go again next year.
Also we are a couple of 24 and 22 and didnt feel out of placeDebt Free Marathon: Start 01/06/09 £16714 - Current Position £14514 - Finish Line Xmas 20100 -
Deep breathes everyone.
This is an interesting topic that has no need to get personal or abusive. Can we take a step back and argue the points in a logical fact based manner, rather than starting with peronal comments or deconstructing people's posts please.

carled wrote:Fair points, IvanOpinion, but I think it's more down to what people want from a holiday. Me and my family aren't suited to the "pre-packaged" entertainment thing and the mere idea of any form of "entertainment" on a ship, in a hotel or in a holiday camp fills me with icy dread... For those that enjoy it - hats off to you. It's not for me.

On the cruises we've been on, there's usually been at least two different types of pre-packaged entertainment on offer each night (OH shares Carled's views on this type of thing) and we have the third option of staying in another bar away from them. I think in the week we were there we went to the 'main show' twice and a secondary show once - there was still plenty of other options for the evenings.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -

i laugh my socks off when people refer to cruises as floating butlins. they could not be further from the truth .however the less that see the light gives me more choice when booking and ensures i get a good deal from the operators.i was on the carnival liberty last july and although i was on a ship with 2500 others there was a period around 6pm when i seemed to be the only person on deck. it was a fantasic feeling.you can find hustle and bustle or solitary areas depending on your wants.you dont have to join in with anything or you can be a party animal.the food can be exotic or plain.you can go ashore on a tour or do your own thing.you can have total family time or give the kids some space in safety of kids club.to me its perfect for everyone.0

I'm going on my first ever cruise this year, really looking forward to it. 2 weeks sailing around the med on a full-board 4* hotel-on-water for 1085 pounds each (we're on the Sea Princess, princess cruises).
My little tip after spending a long time looking online for prices for cruises is phone Thomas Cook. They managed to match (and beat) the best prices I found on other websites (after I phoned those companies). I also got them to give me travel insurance for 8 quid, after a bit of pushing.0 -
For the purposes of 'Carled', my mistakes are a) tying errors (easily done when you're going at 90wpm) or b) time saving devices. I know 'I'd' has an apostrophe, but it is quicker for me not to be overly pedantic. I am an English Major at university, I have 10 GCSE's at A and A*'s and 4 A grade A-levels, my own house (aged 20) bought by saving up a 10% deposit and getting a good job on my non-uni days to get a mortgage. Further, I am in the process of opening an Estate AGency business within the next 6 months, as well as being aware of culture and having very good general knowledge. So yes, I think I am a walking advertisement fot taking your kids out of school, God forbid, for one week of the year.0
