How can I use up port and sweet sherry...not neccessarily together
).
I was given a bottle of each in a hamper form last Christmas, and not sure what to do with them really
I can think of sherry trifle - yum - but do you have any others recipes especially savoury recipes please?

Make rich sauces for beef/venison, etc, chucking it in with onions, mushrooms, etc instead of stock in the stew. Add some to sauteed liver and blend with butter for the best pate on earth. Use sherry for marinating meat with soy sauce and stir fry. Add touch of orange peel/seville orange marmalade to port and boil down for sauce with pork/duck.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

Mushrooms fried in some sherry with a little cream or creme fraiche added are delicious and also makes the basis for a great pie with chestnuts, shallots and leeks.0

Hows about inviting a few friends round for a Port and Stilton evening? Put me top of the list please! You could also serve the sherry ice-cold, with ice cubes in, alongside some strong cheddar.. If you know any real oldies - they usually love a glass of sherry at any time of day!0

Get some stilton and cream it with some port to make a pate. Add walnuts to top if you're feeling fancy.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0

Why do you need to use it up, it isn't going to go off?;)0
