Recently we've been able to clear and close a couple of credit card accounts and bank accounts with small overdrafts, we were wondering how long before it will show on our credit report that these debts have been repaid? As we are hoping to open a new bank account with first direct and have an overdraft available. Do they update/report each month? thanks

Unlike credit searches and an increasing number of online and telephone credit card applications which appear on your credit file more or less in real time, this type of data can take up to a month or more. The frequency of reporting varies between lenders.
Btw, once you have your statutory copy, the CRAs seem happy to answer questions over the phone if you quote your reference number. So if, for instance, you wanted to check that particular items had since been updated, there's no need to order further copies of your credit reportsPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
I'm also wondering how long it takes to get past due accounts off your records here in the US - I had a credit card which went overdue then into collections, I just recently cleared it up with the company, but does this mean it will take over a month to clear?
Also, i just found out that you can get your credit report from the US gov't, does this mean that you should not use any other third party providers?0 -

This is a UK based site which would not be applicable to the United States credit card market. Sorry, you may need to look elsewhere to get the answers you need.0
