    Good answer :j

I don't understand rugby :o - although sometimes they seem to be allowed to fight

  • Bloody hell just dis a ComparetheMeerkat on buildings ins... I am being screwed!

I remember when first got mine with Swinton (part of Norwich Union I think), I more or less had to use them as no-one else would insure a flat. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Fighting is the fun part - they do it properly, none of this rolling around on the floor in silky shorts malarkey

Indeed - maybe I was a bit harsh - but you have loads of areas to work on which is great.
Definitely get yourself a single person discount on your council tax - just phone them up (or write to them) and they should be able to do it for you - they probably won't backdate it - but worth asking anyway.
Mobile - check whether you've got enough minutes on your contract (if it is a contract) - and shop around to see who's cheapest for that amount of minutes then phone up your current company and say x,y,z is offering me this - I'm a loyal customer - I've had great service what can you offer me.
Telephone - seems high - are you calling a lot of mobiles or international calls? if mobiles - maybe try and phone from your mobile with your inclusive minutes - if international have a look at ways of doing this cheaper.
Entertainment - sounds like you can make a great saving there when the end of your gym contract is up.

My philosophy is I work hard for my money so I want to get the absolute best value for money - it does take some work shopping around but you'd be amazed how much you can save - it becomes addictive after a while - what deals can you get and how low can you go (with the bills) . Lol.

Anyway - think how far you've come in 24 hours. You've got all your papers out - done a SOA - which means you know exactly where you are and things can only get better from now on. You've met a fellow Mancunian and discovered your can get a reduction in your council tax with just an easy phone call or a short letter/email. Not bad if you ask me.

Yes - it can seem overwhelming at first but like anything takes a bit of getting used to - one step at a time.
Good Luck on your debt free journey.

"No need to feel :o, the people on here are lovely, and I've seen people who are in a real mess "
    - yep some people are literally about to be repossessed, they've got mortgages and secured loans and a LOT of debt. Some have no jobs and no real income. Although your situation seems dire to you right now - you have options. You have a good income - although it's never enough to buy everything you want is it - everyone wants to earn more and buy more (me included :) ) and you have scope for cutting back as well. And you are willing to admit you have a problem whereas some people come on here - pretend everything is o.k and the head goes straight back in the sand.

Regarding the insurance - now comes the fun part - fighting back. Against all those companies that have charged over the odds - you're on a roll now. Woo hooo.

Just seen Martin's articles on mobile phones and thought you might find it helpful. It says how one person has slashed their mobile from 75 a month to 25 (I can see that being you very soon!).

  • :TThanks df... I can't believe how helpful people are being! I am pathetically grateful.I am gonna have a gander at it right now.

There is so much stuff I can actually DO to make it better - I have had a real victim mentality I think.
