Thinking of buying a 2001 Nissan Primera 1.6, 16VE, 5-door hatchback OR a 1998 Nissan Primera, 1.6V, Equation, 5-door hatchback.

I had a 1995 Primera estate 2000cc for a number of years with only a few minor problems. Any guidance or advice would be appreciated. The maximum I would want to pay is approx. £1000.

I would go for the 1998 one, they seemed to better made than the newer ones, you will get a better 98 one for your £1000.

i loved that shape of primera, i dont know why they just looked great i thought and they were quick, well the 2.0 one i drove was fast, dont know about the 1.6.

we used to run these as company cars, they went on forever, the only real problem i remember was a gearbox went and an oil filter housing snaped removing the filter once as it had just came to us with 220k miles on it and looked like it hadnt been serviced for the latter half of those miles,new housing on it and away it went and done a further 50k before it got sold, still running well.
