Hello fellow MSEers,
I'm going on holiday tomorrow to Cornwall and I have my passport, gun and condoms packed.:D
I'm travelling from Maidstone to Liskeard. So should I:
(1) Go via the M4/M5?
or
(2) Go via the M3/A303/A30?
All the routeplanners are telling me to go via the A303, but although direct it can be slow and if there's a hint of a roadwork it can lead to long delays.
So any advice from Kernowians or Know-it-alls would be much appreciated.

Stick to the motorway always. Since my friends moved to Plymouth I've been down there 6 or 7 times from London and the A303 is ALWAYS slow. The motorway route is longer but much quicker.Pants0

Seconded. M4/M5/A38
Bit of a bottleneck at Bristol but otherwise there is no question, and regular services as well.0 -
Well the delays on the M5 only added a total of about 40 minutes to our journey. We left Maidstone at 8am, and arrived in Liskeard at 2pm, including 1 breakfast stop and one toilet stop.
The delays on the Northbound M5 were pretty grim. At least 3-4 times heavier than going south with everyone leaving Cornwall at once. The man without a signature.0 -
