Another (possibly stupid) q, do these not run the risk of overheating if they don't have a fan and are used for a long time?0

pepperoni wrote:What I find interesting is that there are none showing via the PCW search so I assume they are all reserved?...well there's mine and smudge78's for a start off....that's what I love about PCW reserve system....items reserved for as long as they're not sold!...now will it be worth the journey up there after work I wonder?
phone them on 0870 2420444 item number: 686203 they will let you know how much is in stock and reserve it for you.0 -
It is a shame they don't do one of these with a memord card reader so I could back up my photos to it when on holiday.0

I looked at these a couple of months ago when there appeared to be two versions - checking the Freecom site now there is only one listed and the design is different to this so perhaps these are an EOL product? Anyone know?
Ahh think I know what the difference is: there used to be two models one of which could be attached freestanding to a LAN - this isn't that one. Looks like Freecom now only make the LAN model.0 -
Right, I reserved 2 of these last night for pick up @ Liverpool. I phoned before I set off to check they were still there & was told that they were not in stock. The girl explained that there was an error on the website and they didn't have any stock left.
Of course I ranted a bit & demanded to speak to the manager etc but he wasn't much help.
So, if you've reserved one, phone up before hand to make sure it really exists!!
Fed up & angry!!0 -
They rarely do exist with PCW. I rang CS as there were none left near me and to my surprise was told there was one in a store about 15 miles away.
I'd been screwed with reservations before at that store so insisted CS ensured they'd picked the item off the shelf which they asssured me they had. While driving there to collect it I got a call to say "computer error ... etc" which was of no help because I was 1/2 a mile from them when they called.0 -
jackashton1 wrote:hi guys, so i've taken out the 80gb hdd, do i just buy a 400gb ide, plug it in.. use it? or is some formatting involved? and will it definatly work with a 400gb
Formatting involved prior to use - not sure how it works precisely as I still haven't got my mitts on one.... but you can (how is another matter) even partition using Windows as you would a normal drive and have half in NTFS and half FAT32 then use the NTFS bit as per computer backup for files and the FAT32 is where you'd typically store the mp4s etc.
I saw instructions on a forum (even had pictures) but I can't find it any more.
I found this instead - its the manual pg 28 for XP (use with care....)

My reserved one...guess what..not there...PCW are great for reserve as long as you can collect within the hour, otherwise forget it....what was I told when I rang CS..."it's reserved on the shelf for you"...yeh, course it is!0
