Will it not play through the scart cable if you just select your avi from the list of videos when you boot into the mod software?
My friends old xbox was a software mod, he could basically browse the xbox's harddrive and select whatever video he wanted and it played, no extra hardware needed.I'm better off without you.0 -
I think you need to install additional software on the XBox, XBMC (XBox Media Centre) is freeware and will play divx and xvid files from disc or the hard drive, but the Xbox must be chipped or soft-modded to instal the software0

What you need to know can all be found inc the software

By the way if you have difficulty getting it PC World Business has it for £105 including shipping of £10 at http://www.pcwb.com/catalogue/item/FCMP3004?speedtrapid=froogle&lead=froogle
IF you have any codes you can make it even cheaper.0 -
Soft-modding an Xbox is very easy, but the Xbox only has a 10Gb HDD in it, so you will need to upgrade the HDD if you want to put lots of stuff on it which isn't so easy. It involves cloning your existing HDD, messing around with your PC, etc. Still not too much trouble of you are into that sort of thing.
Alternatively, you can store your avi's on your PC and stream them to your Xbox using media centre. That way you would not need to upgrade the Xbox HDD. This is what I do!0 -

hi there is no hard drive provided with this you only get the player which is why the PC World deal is good as its 80GB. I have sick kids so may not be able to get to the preston store to pick my reserved one up. Rang up Pc world she said that the preston store had 4 available. None available in the East Midlands or London.
Is there any other place that I could get one of these without having to rush to get it. Perhaps somewhere where I could use a discount code to get it cheap. Please post if you know of a cheapo place as I have been dying for one of these for ages!0 -
hi guys, so i've taken out the 80gb hdd, do i just buy a 400gb ide, plug it in.. use it? or is some formatting involved? and will it definatly work with a 400gb0

What I find interesting is that there are none showing via the PCW search so I assume they are all reserved?...well there's mine and smudge78's for a start off....that's what I love about PCW reserve system....items reserved for as long as they're not sold!...now will it be worth the journey up there after work I wonder?smudge78 wrote:hi there is no hard drive provided with this you only get the player which is why the PC World deal is good as its 80GB.
