Help writing to DFS for refund of deposit please

On 28th June I paid £84 deposit for a sofa from DFS.
Never used them before and was unwell and couldn't get down to secure the last day of the sale prices. I could have ordered online but wanted to sit on the sofa to see if it was comfortable.
I had hoped to get over to them to do just that and I was told I needed to fill the paperwork out for the interest free offer. I don't drive and it's a trek on public transport and I just felt too ill to do so initially. This seemed irrelevant as at the time I paid my deposit over the phone they also said they were moving the stock around as it was the last day of the sale and I may not get to see the furniture I have ordered unless I came later in the week.
The salesman also said at the time (having checked audibally with a manager or someone else in store) that as I had paid £84 if I didn't like the sofa I would have to choose something else in-store. I agreed but thought it sounded a bit unorthadox, and recalled hearing on the forums here that there's a law that says you have time to inspect any bought goods upon receipt and if you are not happy then you get a refund (my loose interpretation from memory). So it made sense to me that rather than order the sofa if I didn't like it and then refuse it on delivery, I should simply be able to cancel my deposit.
The salesman rang me about 3 days later but I missed the call and called him back the following day or so. I had received a receipt in the post for the telephone deposit. I had still not specified which size sofa I required, and I needed the measurements, but the sofa I wanted had been discontinued (the day after I paid the deposit) so he gave me the measurements over the phone and I said I would call him back. They're trying to blag me into the 5 yr extra cover for the sofa in case I spill coffee on it (£65) but I told them I have AD on my contents insurance so I don't want it - hope this isn't going to be a problem when I refuse it, as they included it in part of my deposit without me agreeing to it!
My order has not been processed as I had not confirmed whether I wanted the 2 seater or 3 seater. I told them I couldn't get down there just to get the 4 yrs int free cred as I had only gone through the shop to sit on it (which hadn't been an option as the floor was cleared the night the sale ended and the sofa discontinued). I had also told him that it was going to be difficult for me to get to the store and he suggested I pay the entire balance by card which I declined.
I've got the £84 receipt which about £60 is the 5 yr care plan & free leather care kit (told them on my last call I didn't want it). I am not in a position to phone the shop and deal with the pushy salesman and can't find an address to write to, to request the money refund on my card.
There's been no contact between us for about 2 and a half weeks and a few days ago my mobile no changed, but they have not contacted me on my land line. I have had a sensitive family issue which has been very difficult to deal with and I am stressed and a bit bewildered as to what I should do for the best. I don't want a phone confrontation with a salesman, I'm not up to it.
I'm a bit stuck and really would appreciate some guidelines and support about a refund. I think I need to do this like NOW as I am a month on and I am not sure if legally I have to act within that time frame.
Many thanks.

DFS have sales? Really? Wow, you'd think they'd advertise them more, I watched a whole half a hour of TV last night without seeing an ad for them...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I know!
I think the sofa in question was from their
"HURRY! MUST END SOON, WAREHOUSE CLEARANCE LAST MINUTE, EVERYTHING MUST GO, VERY LAST CHANCE TO PURCHASE A HALF PRICE INTEREST FREE NEVER TO BE REPEATED STRICTLY LIMITED DISCOUNTED OFFER, LAST FEW DAYS, WHILE STOCKS LAST, LAST SALE!"
DFS are a bit like Dreams where I bought my last bed from in January and their 'sale's been going ever since!
I just thought I'd let people here know I have called consumer direct who have said I am protected under the distant selling law, which was kind of what I was getting at in my original post.
I am just about to write to DFS so I will let you know what happens.0 -
Must End Sunday at 5pm0
