Hi Everyone,
i'm quite new to facing up to my debts and only joined the forum a couple of weeks ago. I have quite a lot of debt and have sat down and worked out a target of trying to pay off £4k before the end of 2009 (steep i know)
I have written a list of how i hope to make some extra money to pay off things and it includes the popular ebay, mysteryshopping etc. one of the things on my list is to try and sell some of my home made cards that i currently make as a hobby. I have cupboards full of stock so don't need to outlay anything but haven't got a clue where to start with where and how to sell them.:o does anyone have any ideas? I thought perhaps craft fairs but i don't know how to find out where and when they are held.
Does anyone else sell crafts? if so please could i have some tips i would appreciate any comments anyone has.
Thanks for reading:D

Hi Dizzytina,
Best way to find craft fairs is just to do an internet search ,there are generally companies that organise a lot of fairs in specific areas. Another good way is to ask if you could have a stall at a local school or church fete, usually if you pay for the stall or donate a portion of your profits to whatever they are raising money for they will accept.
Perhaps try some local shops-ask if they would have your cards on the counter on a sale or return basis (generally 50/50 or if your lucky 60% /40% in your favour)
Good luck!0 -

how about etsy? https://www.etsy.com.
I don't list on there (I knit, but not fast enough to make anything to sell!) but I know people that do, and it's great for selling (and buying) crafty things.0 -
Hi Dizzytina

Craft fairs are a good place to start - have a look on the net to find out ones in your area as well as looking at advertising boards around your local area
You could also start your own blog to advertise your goods
Another option is to offer to go to peoples' houses to sell your cards - you could also have a table set up in the staff room in schools when they re-open
If you want other ideas for extra income there is also party plan
I am involved in 2 which I enjoy tremendously - look for ones that appeal to you. The ones that I am involved in are The Body Shop at Home and Blue Bella Lingerie & Lovestuff because I love the products
You may be interested in ones that are craft orientated - google craft party plan and a couple of good ones will come up
Good luck

My mum's been selling cards for a few years now; she started out selling at craft fairs and now sells some of them on in bulk to craft/gift/touristy shops who then sell them on (obviously they're making a greater profit from this) and since this she's had a few requests to make wedding stationary. I think she pretty much just goes into any shops that she thinks her cards might suit, and asks if they would be interested in selling them for her.0

as well as fairs why not try local larger businesses? drop a basket off with samples and i list of the cards you can provide... then there are mother and toddler groups, churches (my gran sold crafts in her local church for years), car boot sales, ask local florists if youc an pop a stand in there and they get a % for every card sold...ppl buying flowers tend to do for a reason so being able to buy a wonderful card at the same time is great

I work in the Breast Care Unit at a local hospital and we have homemade cards on sale here. The person who makes them just makes a small donation to the unit and the people here buy the cards. Its suprising how handy they come in when you forget someones birthday or anniversary and can just nip down the corridor and buy a card. Good Luck

Hairdressers are good place to put a small stand as women spend a long time sitting around, the hairdresser would get a small percentage0
