Urgent advice from anyone? - final payment!

Hi all,

I was due to receive my final redundancy pay-off / last month's PILON payment today. I returned my company car yesterday to a former colleague, he sent email to Finance Director (I also sent one later confirming the drop off). Everything carried out as agreed in writing.

Final payslip arrived yesterday, feel short-changed (£67) on holiday pay but more or less amount I expected.

Today I check bank account to see my company paid in £7040 this morning (as agreed) and then reversed it straight away. My bank have no reason for the reversal and suggested I call my company.

Now I have sent email, left messages on specific answer machines (office+mobile) since 0830 today but no response and no follow-up CHAPS payment.

Where do I stand? This lack of payment is now going to affect diret debits and the hire car I had booked for tomorrow - 2 reasons - 1 kids going to visit grandparents for a week, 2- I have three interviews next week starting 8am Monday morning.

Any suggestions anyone, for today and after if money doesn't come?

So angry - I get made redundant without notice, do everything they ask and they can't even make their payment on time!

  • Drive there or keep calling (& stay on the line).

Little else you can do immediately.
    Not Again
  • I'd love to drive there, but gave company car back. No wheels. Head office Plymouth, at home in Mansfield! Might start walking the way I'm feeling!

Nothing much you can do except wait for the call back.

You could call your bank and arrange a temporary overdraft for the payments due to go out imminently.

Is there someone you can call - in HR or Payroll?

  • Thanks for everyone's replies, seems ages ago now! In the end I managed to get the MD who pushed the right people and money went in about 4:30pm Friday - thank god!

Had a busy week interviewing and got another one this afternoon and Thursday! Fingers crossed.

In answer to "redundancy without notice," basically I attended a 1-to-1 review meet (fairly standard for me about bi-monthly) and when it began it was more 1-to-1 plus witness with a 30 second pause before being told I was redundant. No under threat, no conversations about alternatives, just you;re done lets have your laptop and phone!

Anyhoo, waited until 31st july and finally got my pay off, 1 month PILON, two month ex-gratia payment. I worked for 21 months for them. Contacted a solicitor yesterday to see I have a case about process and handling - she advised I might be able to get something if I'm unemployed for longer than the 3 months they have paid me. Have to go to tribunal by 29th Spetember. Hoping to have a job as a result of this week's interviews! It's a back-up plan though!

Thanks again for the replies. :T
