Three times this has happened now. Out of the blue he gets a letter from British Gas saying they're sorry hes leaving.
Every time he phones them up and says hes not and has never signed with anyone else. Each time they tell him hes moving to Southern Electric.
They then send him a letter saying welcome to British Gas and theres usually a week or two delay until BG starts again. In the meantime, hes paid the final bill from before with BG, so, in effect, hes paying no-one for a few weeks. Tried to explain this to BG but no joy.
Also, never heard anything from Southern Electric or anyone else. If it was another company trying to sign over his gas, they would have contacted him surely?
Now, my Dads 75 and gets stressed about this. Personally, if it was me I'd say, your fault, keep doing it while I get free gas !!!
Tried writing to them last time but no joy... Any ideas? I did tell my Dad to stuff them and move to someone else but he said he didnt want the hassle (even though this is causing him hassle!)

Possibly Southern Electirc are trying to take over another supply. Phone Southern Electric and ask them why they are taking the supply over and not billing you.0

Surely Southern Electric would have contacted my father...
Also, how would Southern Electric be trying to take over for no reason.0 -

For example your dad may live in Flat 1A, and southern electric are trying to take over the supply at Flat 1B but keep incorrectly taking over the wrong supply. If I were you I would contact Southern Electric to find out why.0 -

Bad idea
No such thing as free gas Southern clearly have a mix up so keep an eye on meter readings because you may notice BG might not be billing you due to the confusion.

I had this with Scottish Power. Another company (say Eon) were trying to take over the supply at flat x, SP House, My Road and SP incorrectly tried to transfer my account at flat x, Eon House, My Road. I never had any communication with Eon as they were taking over the correct supply. I am pretty sure this is where the mistake arose as around the same time I also had confirmation letter from one of the rental deposit schemes delivered to my flat.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Funnily enough, my Dad did have some fella around trying it on a few months before this all started. And his meter is outside.
Although, never had any letter saying welcome to new provider which I would have expected in this case....0
