Pre-Registered Cars

I bought my car a couple of years ago off the net and although the V5 shows me as the second owner the car was pre-registered and sold to me 3 days later. I must admit it's never bothered me but will it affect it's trade in value?

The reason i ask is that I am looking to change our other car and have found a good price on a brand new vectra. Only problem is it was registered to Vauxhall initially and then registered to another customer before they changed their mind on the colour.

So in effect we would be the third owners even thought the car was only registered 6 weeks ago and has 36 miles on the clock.

Would this affect the value in future years?

Thanks

Very slightly. "One owner" cars attract a bit more money than multiple owner vehicles. Having said that, it depends how long you are planning to keep it. Also, I imagine something like a Vectra offers a huge saving as a pre-registered vehicle and this would more than compensate for any shortfall in future value.

Double check just how good a deal you're getting - excellent discounts & low/no interest on NEW, or bonuses for the dealer, to pass on to you might make it not so tempting.

    Also check http://www.networkq.co.uk

& before you decide... have you test driven a Mazda 6??? Superior in soooooo many ways & this segment of the new car market is really struggling, compared to the rest of the models!!

It sounds pretty good value, although there are a few around still.

Do you know if it's the 120 or 150 engine - might make a difference when selling on.The higher power one being more desirable.

    Currently 10month-1 year old 8 - 10000 miles £8500 - £9550 auction figures.

    it's the 120, I couldn't let her loose in a 150 !!!

To be honest I'm not a vauxhall fan and am also considering the Mazda 6 and Seat Altea/Toledo. The one thing putting me off them is the proximity of the local dealers being 45 mins to 1 hour away which is not ideal if a problem occurs.
