Dentist wants to charge me full fee for missed hygienists appointment (10 month wait) because of the long waiting time, I forgot.

I know this is my fault.

But today they send me a letter wanting the £15 fee, telling me they plan to add 25% and get debt collectors on the case.

What legal framework allows someone to charge in full plus interest of 25%! for work that has not been done.

Your NHS dentist cannot charge for missed appointments!

    Your dentist cannot:
    • charge you for missed appointments - but if you continue to miss appointments they may decide not to offer you treatment, or
    • accept children as NHS patients on condition that their parent, parents or guardian agree to sign up for private treatment.
Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition

You have one very good dentist to have hygienists on the NHS. Since our government put in place the new contract most dental practices have put their hygienist onto private work as they are no longer cost effective on the NHS

Pay the £15 irrespective of the legalities if only to keep a good dentist

  • Ten months does seem a long time to wait for an appointment. I remember the max being 6 months between check ups
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

No wonder so many dentists no longer take NHS patients.

My NHS dentist does the work that some other dentists farm off to a hygienist. He also works every other saturday too.

Apart from that, he is the best dentist we have ever had. None of that, in and out of the chair in seconds, for a check up. He prides himself on his work. Plus he is not one of those that claim a patient needs a filling, when they don't.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
