  • So not only are you all a bit peeved because I say you are cheating you think its ok to be rude, obnoxious and to call me a troll?

I havent been rude about this in any way. I have pointed out that what you do when you share codes is not sporting and is not fair.

McVites will do everything that they can to stop this and that is impacting on genuine winners.

Remember Karma though. What goes around, comes around.

You cant share a code with your family, with your friends or a stranger in the street.

The computer will check ANY winner to ensure that the codes have been used the allocated number of times only.

I have seen in shops about 20 packets with the same code, so how can that code be entered 5 times only if there are 20 copies of it?

I didn't mean to start an argument.

Thanks heavens Upsa Daisy is back to brighten up this thread. :T:T:T
  • Once again I find myself absolutely compelled to agree with a fellow poster. Ruby, you are so right. Why oh why are people coming onto a website entitled MoneySavingExpert and helping people save money? It's absolutely bizarre.

The same thing happened to me the other day on footiefootiefootball.com. I logged in and there was post after post about people playing ............. eh, football. It was all about dribbling, great goals, penalties, Cup Finals. Try as I might I could not find a single contribution about cake decoration or how to build a patio wall.

I complained to the webmaster but he give me some drivel about the clue being in the name of the site. The arrogant sod said I should have stayed away if it wasn't football related chit chat I was after. Absolute tosh, I am a British citizen and if I want to go on footiefootiefootball.com and talk endlessly about wine tasting and mountain climbing who are they to tell me to go elsewhere.

I blame the schools, if people had a better command of the English language they'd realise what mixed messages they are sending with these thoroughly ambiguous web names. MoneySavingExpert indeed, could be about bloody anything!

Who is it not fair on?

I could argue that it's not fair on me. I've bought 60 packets of biscuits for this game and only actually managed to win £50, my other half has won nothing. If McVities had used unique codes I'd have won far more cash. I'm not the only one in this situation. The code sharing in the beginning made it difficult for me to pin down a win and now that the rules have been changed to limit the wins i'm left with all these biscuits and not a hope in hell of winning anything with them.

I'm a genuine customer, I didn't buy that many packets to throw them away, I checked out the use by date and figured we'd be kept in biscuits till next year.

If McVities had used unique codes then i'd not be in the situation I am and there'd be no arguing and accusations on this thread either. This all might be over soon anyway, the cheques should start arriving next week.

  • Ruby - they arent unique codes. On the hobnob shelf in Tescos they are about 40 packs with the same 4 digit barcode and 4 digit timecode. If I buy one pack, and everyone today buys one pack all 40 of us can use that code 5 times. So the system would receive 200 attempts at the same code today.
I see that, thanks for at least being reasonable.

Thing is as I said above there are different codes round the different shops etc etc They expect 200+ attemps in a certain town in Manchester but when those codes turn up in a far away place it does look a bit odd and as it happens more and more they look into it more and more.

I thought I would mention it because so many people have said they havent won since blah blah and that is the reason why if they have been sharing codes.

I certainly did not think I would get so much abuse.
