When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D

Morning All

Hello to everyone else who posts today. Hugs to those that need them

Yay, Friday !!!! :j:j:j

Today I have/will:
• Checked online banking – payday today so moved money around
• Meals from storecupboards
• Enter comps online
• Have a LSD – apart from a payday treat of coffee and a sandwich
• Look on the internet for jobs in the local area
• Work really hard at work – will probably do overtime as we are still mega busy (and understaffed)
• When I eventually get home look at my CV and jazz it up a bit (obviously not lying though)
• Start writing an interview pack – comments on how I can sell myself, questions to ask etc
• While I am on the internet catch up on yesterday’s forum
• Off to register with another agency before work today (need to phone the current agency to advise that I will be slightly late)

Think that is about it…..have a great day everyone

Everyone always has such long lists - it puts me to shame. Lots of very good thrifty domesticated ideas today, of which I'm a big fan (stay at home dad = my dream job!)

    Today I have:
    1. Paid off my overdraft after 8 years! This was a massive milestone for me, as my poorly managed overdraft was the first slip on the ladder down to debtors' hell :D
    2. Did most of my internet banking before 7am - I always make sure that transfers for rent, broadband etc. are made to my GFs account as soon as possible so that she remains solvent.
    3. Having a NSD (ok, I may buy a couple of beers to celebrate my victory).
    4. Consider starting up Dooyoo reviews again, as I was making reasonable amounts of voucher money that was making gift buying a whole lot easier.
    5. Pay in a £50 Dooyoo cheque that I'm using for debt payments.
    6. Haggle for water filters on eBay (our tap water looks like milk it's so hard!)
    7. Think positive thoughts and look forward to living in debt free bliss with my lovely GF (who's also aiming to be debt free early 2010).

    Hello all! Happy Friday!

Today is in a way my debt free day, as for the first time in years the money I have in the bank is higher than my debts (I have one remaining CC which is on 0% interest). However, if I paid off the credit card today I wouldn't have quite enough cash to get me through the month, so my official debt free date will be Friday 28th August (hopefully). Yay :).

However, today is not going to be a very DFW day:

    Scratchcards - 35p
    Check online banking
Not quite a packed lunch as I managed to burn my pitta bread this morning, but I've got some fruit and there is cake at work, so hopefully that'll get me through to 4.30.
Check for mystery shops, surveys, etc
Chip shop chips for tea I reckon - not very DFW or healthy, but it's the cheapest takeaway so almost is :)
No time for writing today, but will have a think about plots etc - I tend to have all my best ideas whilst driving!
Haircut tonight - totally not DFW in the slightest (it's one of my biggest vices in fact) but I haven't been for a couple of months.
Night out tonight - I haven't had a proper night out for about 6 weeks, so even if I spend £30 (unlikely!) that's still within budget
    Will get a lift home
Debt at LBM (17/10/08) £5727.61 Debt free date 31/08/09
  • Morning all, it's Friday and payday for me :j

    Today's list is:

    1. Check online banking
    2. Surveys
    3. Charge phone at work
    4. Lunch from home
    5. Change to sealed pots
    6. Withdraw various allowances / transfer money
    7. Update spreadsheet
    8. Check ebay sales
    9. Start spending diary!
    10. Sort out paperwork tonight - having a night in!

    Think that's enough, enjoy!
