    Another £12.45 from quidco - every little helps.
    Need to make some calls today re. the insurance etc. And house/contents is up for renewal - think quote is pretty good but will do a quick check to be sure.

    Are you making sure you buy the insurance through a cashback site once you've chosen which one to go with?

    Don't think any of the life assurance peeps use the cashback sites - but am following Martin's advice! ;)

    I'm pretty sure that Legal & General do - we got ours through them with cashback, and they are one of the cheapest premiums for us too.......

    Thanks Hypno - checked the Legal and General but they don't do CIC - at least not online for the cash back! So will go with Aviva - it is basically the same policy we currently have but for the full amount and the right term - at the moment we have a couple of policies that have been "topped up" when we moved so the terms are to short and the amount too low. Will cancel those when this one comes through.

    Have cancelled the monthly payment CIC/redundancy - will have 6 months grace if either of us gets ill and redundancy - well I will just have to do more dog training!! Saving (when the extra on the other policy is taken into account) is £72.93 a month which is going to help a lot with the extra expenses from September.

    Have paid the quidco money off a credit card and - with my regular snowball payments and some expenses - my DFD is now only 34 months away - June 2012. I'd forgotten how much difference the little extras can make. :D

    Nothing very MSE to report today - just a claimable trip "up north" and everything seems reasonable on the budget front - though we have a number of big expenses to go out this month - home insurance etc plus it is the month for quarterly bills. It is in the budget as a monthly figure but is having to be paid up front. Need to put money aside for these in future - did start doing that but it got eaten up. Always seem to be firefighting on that one. Any suggestions?

    Hi Miz,

    I have a bill account and pay across enough money to cover all my DDs when I get paid. I round th DD's up to the next £5 and that builds up a little surplus without me noticing too much.

    Eg
    Eon monthly DD = £77 so I pay across £80
    Water: = £16.71 so I pay across £20
    TV = £12. something so I pay across £15

    Each month, I pay across about £30 more than I actually need and this helps pay unexpecteds.

    Also, Lloyds Bank have a "Save the Change" account which rounds up all debit card payments you make to the next £1 eg you spend £27.63, it deducts £28 and pays across 37p into a savings account. You don't notice the difference but it soon adds up!

    Strumps.
