OP, try a De Dietrich oven.

Erm, no, don't, they aren't very good...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I need : a grill which i can use at the same time as the oven.
a self cleaning oven......not rubbish catalytic " stay clean " linings which in my opinion means stay dirty linings
    somewhere to warm plates....

a free standing double oven with one pyrolytic cavity would be perfect

You don't get double ovens with a Pyrolytic function. So you have to either compromise on the cleaning aspect; go for a single 600mm oven with pyro and then find room for an another oven; or get a single oven and live without a seperate grill...

Thanks, I know you are correct

This is exactly what i have found .........but i dont think my requirements are excessive or unusual. Surely in this day and age it is not beyond manufacturers to design such a cooker, one that is functional and serviceable. or do they just like to design cookers that look good in TV makeover programmes that never actually get used. GRR !

The reason they don't have double ovens with a pyro function is basically due to safety. Various companies have experimented with a pyro system for a double oven, but the problem lies with the locking mechanism for the oven door. As you know, pyro heats the oven up to around 500 degrees, to burn all the dirt off, and as a result, the doors need to be locked shut during this process, to prevent any accidents. Due to the configuration of the doors and the space needed to incorporate a true locking system, putting this system into a double oven would mean reducing each oven by around 50-65mm in height (to allow for the lock, the electronics and the heat shielding etc) and this would then mean you have a double oven, that self cleans, but you can't essentially use properly. It's just one of those things unfortunately.

    It'll be a 600mm single oven with a 450mm single oven above...

More discussion and more changing of minds in this house hold :D

Self cleaning is now looking more viable than an afterthought of a built under double oven.

So, single pyrolytic ovens now! Probably another post in a day or two. :rotfl:

    Thank you for everyone's input.

The lower one is the smaller grill, which is def not 450mm-its the size of a normal small oven/grill-maybe 300mm? The controls are touch button, and they are all on the top oven, thats why I presumed it was a double oven....

Right, decision's been made. Neff does a series 3 single oven with pyrolytic. It's the B15P42. Now the last appliance and the trauma will be over!
