Could someone try and get it for £1

I was walking through town today and had a quick look in the pound shop for some bits and pieces and I saw something that got me thinking and thought I would see what you lovely people thought. Can I just point out that I have no intention what-so-ever of arguing with the shop over it.
Outside the shop, in the windows and on the main sign for the shop it says ''POUNDWORLD..... EVERYTHING A POUND'' then there's signs in the window saying that everything in store is £1.
On our way out we passed a managers special display with large kiddies paddling pools on it and a sign saying ''Managers Special £19.99''
Now as I say all the signs and displays say Everything £1.
If someone kicked up a fuss over the fact that something is £19.99 in a shop that advertises everything at £1 do you think they would get anywhere?
Like I say I am just interested as it got me thinking and i'm not actually going to do anything even if I could.

A price or shelf label is in legal jargon called " An initation to treat " and therefore is inviting offers. So the 99p adverts are inviting to people to purchase ( an offer ) and a contract exists when money is taken ( acceptance ). Therefore if someone tried to purchase the pool for 99p they would be making an offer to buy at that price which would be obviously rejected. Sorry for the technical answer0

Heskpesk is correct but it is misleading and false advertising, you could complain to trading standards if the ad says everthing's a poundAKA: PC

Also, I've been in there when items have been reduced to 50p...didn't see anybody trying to get them for a pound !0

Hi
I work for Poundland, and we do sell everything at £1! (apart from reduced 50p / 75p damaged stock / close to sell by. Poundland pride themselves in them being the leading single priced retailer in Europe.
It'd be interesting to know which store was selling the pools, as there is no way poundland would allow the item be sold for £19.99.
It could be the manager selling something 'on the sly'?!0 -
It's the Castleford one. It was just a display near the doors and a sign written on a piece of paper.
The only time I have seen anyone complaining about 50p stuff is when there are trying to get 3 for £1 but get told noIf At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -

I have had a look and there is no poundland in castleford.
I assume you are talking about a pound shop as I have two around here and they are NOT poundland. But do sell stuff for a pound but poundland is better.

I have min of 50 mile round trip to my nearest poundland
I love it and the stock is zillion times better than these other pound shops that we have round here.
We have 3 empty woolies within a 7 mile radius. I wish they would move in to one of them. I am sad as that would make my day :rotfl:
