August no spend + £15 a day challenge

Posts: 2,560 Forumite

As the title says, starting on Saturday the 1st of August i hope to last the whole month with absolute no spending except what i budget for while making £15 a day from ebay/betfair or any other way i can. Il be doing as much overtime at work that i can but this doesnt count for my £15 a day.
Debt at the 1st of August = £1,975.77
ISA = £60
Current account = ??? Will post this tomorrow night when i know exactly how much itl be starting at
Aim of £15 a day may seem hard but i think i can manage this if i really put everything iv got into it. Will be largly relying on ebay sales.
This extra income will bring £465 if i manage it on an average of £15 a day which will go straight to the debt on the 31st of August when the challenge is complete(hopefully
)
Any ideas how to hit the £15 a day other than betfair(slightly risky i know) or ebay sales(only really sold clothes/trainers so far)?
My expenses for the month -
£70 for diesel for my van - will need to spend this as to and from work 6 days a week and to and from the gfs on a weekend-(plus its easier not to spend when im at hers,we can keep entertained for free
)
£30 for my brothers birthday on the 28th
£100 digs to my mum
£35 phone bill
£72 loan repayment
So really i should manage to get through the month with £307 expenses.
Wages should be £500+(not sure as just got my payrise so not been paid on my new rate yet) on the 7th and 21st = More than £1000 wages
Combined with my Challenge i should be clearning £1500 income this month with just £307 going out.
Wish me luck, you can follow it here, il be keeping you updated. Hopefully this thread will get me motivated and get me going.

I'd join you but £15 a DAY is a bit of a push for me. I'm happy to be in the "All of August is NSD" club thoughStarting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.0 -
Whats stated above will be my only spending which should not be too hard. Are you trying to pay off more than 10k of debt by the end of this year? Good luck to you! Join me on the NSD and choose your own amount for how much you would try to earn a day and post in here to motivate each other and encourage each other to keep going. I was going to go for £20 a day but since im not including overtime il settle for £15 a day. Even £10 a day is £310 for the month, still a 33% payrise for me at the end of the month!
Im sure iv asked before about my wages but £6.56 an hour for 39 hours a week basic then 15 hours time and a half. Since i get paid fortnightly itl be 78 hours normal + 30 hours time and a half. What do you think il be on after tax and insurance?
Il need to put alot of stuff on ebay if im hoping to get £465 just from that! Any ideas?Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Wow, you are very dedicated, I will definately be following your journey and willing you on!
Would love to join you in the NSD for August, but this is all very new to me, so going to just spend August on concentrating on keeping my grocery bill intact
