kypie - thank you so much for the link! Just been watching demo's from the nappy lady and its like a door into another world! It also answered my question about using muslin for newborns! Yay!
Really like the retro-ness of using terry squares and relieved to see that the wraps are no longer nasty plastic things!
Must put some time into researching prices....guys if you see any bargains please let me know! Many thanks to all! xHappiness is wanting what you have...0 -

One of the girls over on the pregnancy thread in Families Board did all the research and came up with a full system for under £200. You'd have to search the thread for it though. I think it might be the last thread, not the current one (they are long, so tend to get closed at 5000 posts) and it might have been aless who posted but am not sure about that.0 -
Thanks Nicki, I will pop over there now!Happiness is wanting what you have...0

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but my council gave me £25 back if I spent £50 on real nappies, just had to send them copies of receipts. Took a bit of finding on their website so if you can't find any info about your local council it may be worth posting on here as someone may know.
I got a lot of mine in a sale at the clean green nappy machine, in fact just had a look and they have the same sale on, 20% off, worked out the best value when I was looking. It took them ages to send them out though, think they had been snowed under with orders! Didn't matter for me as I was ordering well in advance of baby being born. They may have improved things now.0 -
I use disposibles but I work for a retailer that sells nappies so not only do I get a very genourous staff discount, I also often get my nappies from the on site staff shop (my last outer of 3 economy packs cost me £3.15). I'm not sure about the environmental impact, but I try and make up for it in other ways (ie I try to 'pre-cycle' as well as recycle)Taking baby-steps :beer:0

I have no idea what this sentence means????
I have never heard of pre-cycling, and I am not at all sure how you "recycle" a used disposable nappy! Am I the only person completely in the dark about this?0 -

I am guessing, reuse rather than recycle but not with regards to her disposables - Ithink the point was that whe tries to conteract the environmental impact by doing other things.Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
I have started to get a list together of what I may need but trying to source fairtrade as the picking and production processes in third world countries disturb me somewhat - now I know its never going to be perfect but its important to me to do what i can.
Has anyone out there an tips?Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Hi Anglepye - just a quick note to you to say good luck in Dec - i stumbled across your thread and find it inspiring. We plan on baby # 2 next year and I will definitely be using cloth nappies. Keep up the good work and enjoy your little one.

There's quite a few organic ones out there but fairtrade doesn't seem to be as freely available. Some nappies are manufactured in the UK, nature babies are, think tots bots might be but don't quote me on that one! bebeco.co.uk has some organic/ethical nappies. not sure if they actually fairtrade certified though.
