Hows that for customer satisfaction. The 'A' in AOL is the biggest putoff!
AOL can be full of rubbish. I recently set up a VPN for a customer that had AOL at home so he could dial into the office.
I tested the VPN from my PC and it worked fine. Set it up on the customer with AOL and no connection. Called AOL and they insisted that VPN ports were not blocked. I did some more tests and wasn't convinced AOL were correct.
Called them up again and this time someone told me you had to upgrade to the Gold package to allow VPN ports. What tosh.
Told customer to terminate AOL contract and he's now got a decent Broadband supplier with a faster connection for less money with a working VPN connection!0 -
I contacted BT today about my 2gb usage and asked what would happen if I went over and if they had a facility where I could check how much I have used.
She asked me to open my mailbox and there is a bar there that tells you how much you have used. My box said 0% of 2gb.
I asked her why I had 0% if I have been online more or less everyday (especially in school hols as I'm a teaching assistant), she asked if I had downloaded anything from email and I said no, and she said thats why you still have 2gb.
I asked if that means I can leave my connection on 24/7, surf what I want and when I want, play games etc etc and not be charged extra at the end of the month and she said yes, it's only on what you download from emails.
So, slightly confused to say the least. But if thats what she says that that must be right .....right????????0 -
You and her are getting confused about the '2Gb limit'.
The one you discussed with her is for your email account. The 2Gb limit, is a storage limit for emails. This is the total size of emails you can store before you need to delete some.
This is nothing to do with the 'monthly usage allowance' which also happens to be 2Gb, but is measured by counting the amount of data you upload and download over the month.0 -
Oh fiddlesticks ... I'll have to get back onto them again I think. Thanks0

..that goes for me too. I walked away from them several years ago and have been very happy with BT ever since (although I don't like talking to call centres in India).0
