Coeliac Disease is an auto-immune disease caused by digesting Gluten, which is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley.

If you suffer from these symptoms:

"Bloating, diarrhoea or constipation, nausea, wind, tiredness, anaemia, mouth ulcers, weight loss, hair loss, skin problems, joint/bone pain (osteoporosis), depression, infertility, recurrent miscarriages."

Then you may have Coealiac Disease. Check the web site of the Coealiac Society for more information http://www.coeliac.co.uk/

The Coeliac society is the main charity in the UK for helping people with Coeliac Disease.

Monday 15 May to Sunday 21 May 2006 is Coeliac awareness week.

I have coeliac disease although I had virtually none of the symptoms associated with it. Coeliac disease is often known as the silent disease as it is prevalent but rarely diagnosed.

I will be doing my bit for coeliac disease in their awareness week.

    Thank you for posting

My 20 mth old has just been diagnosed, had the Biopsy last Thursday.

He has been so poorly with it, it is heartbreaking to see how thin and brittle he is.

I'll be doing my bit during Awareness Week and I have contacted the local news reference doing a story - to try and bring it to the attention of everyone. But I won't hold my breath.

rach, if you want tips about places that carry GF 'treats' etc or special foods pm me and I'm happy to chat to you. I go to a farmers market twice a month to get lots of lovely GF goodies.

Sorry for going off topic, I'll slap myself in a minute.
