Im with Eon staywarm at the moment used them for a year direct debit payment of £88 a month and this year the renewal figure is £93 a month basically with this tariff its a fixed amount each month even in the summer but you can use your heating in winter without worrying so much about massive bills.
Anyway ive just used 2 comparison sites "Simply Switch" and "u Switch" saying that based on the actual figures provided by me of last years kwh consumption i would be saving £370 if i joined Edf,so does anyone know when Edf last raised there prices as it seems i should switch, also i dont really understand how the simply switch site states"You won't find this tariff cheaper anywhere else, even direct from EDF Energy" which is strange how can anyone provide it cheaper than the actual company, there must be a catch,is it artificially low for a short period

The last time EDF changed their prices was about March ... and that was a reduction (although it didn't apply in all regions)

Prior to that, they would have increased prices in about September/October 2008

This was inline with market trends.

The comment on the simplyswitch website is something simply to hook you into switching with them.

"You won't find this tariff cheaper anywhere else, even direct from EDF Energy"

True, but you won't find it more expensive anywhere else either! ;)
It'll be the same price wherever you go for that specific tariff.

That £370 savings, is that what the site quoted you or what you worked out you would be saving?

Be aware that you cant compare Staywarm on comparison sites and rely on the savings quoted, you should multiply your DD by 12 (£1116) then compare that with the expected anual spend with the other suppliers, If EDF say that the expected spend is £746 then you are laughing.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Have just had similar problems with Staywarm and on checking with comparison sites, appear to be able to save up to £354 a year by switching to another supplier. Even Eon's own internet rate gave me a saving of approx £264! This was using my own meter readings for the last year.
When I rang Staywarm , I might as well have been talking to the wall, the basic attitude seems to be if you dont like it, change your supplier. Tried to tell me that the current price was to recover an undercharge for 2008 and when I queried that, changed it to 2007. Just wasn't prepared to discuss how Eon's standard rate could be lower than a, supposedly, special rate for pensioners.
Finally started to rant about using internet comparison sites to find cheaper suppliers.
Have now arranged to switch to another company (after 9 yrs) and will await results with interest.
    Hope this helps
Life in the old dog yet? :hello:

  • Dodo - I think that you should ask StayWarm how there has been an undercharge for 2007 or 2008. Bearing in mind that you say that you have been with StayWarm for 9 years then they will have been setting your monthly payments at the time of the renewals that cover these years, therefore there should not have been any undercharge.

I was with StayWarm for 7 years and moved away from them at the end of 2007 and have saved an appreciable amount since then.
