does it mean that the current card account will be closed and the card can't be used any more?

No, it will only mean that the outstandings on the current card will reduce to the extent of the balance that you have transferred, and you can use this freed up limit on your old card. You need to make an explicit request to close a card account. It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0

If you have balance transferred to a new card with an offer, don't do what I would do and keep the card and use it again?
It is down to you, but I always close accounts after I've moved the money - just to make sure I don't dig myself a deeper hole.0 -
Your old card may be useful; I wouldn't cancel it automatically. There are some cards, like Egg, MBNA, Cahoot etc that give repeat BT offers or are useful for extracting cash from other cards. Some provide purchase protection or extended warranties. If you tell us what card you have, someone here may be able to advise whether it's worth hanging on to.0
