Are these prices fair?

I know it's hard to give an answer, but I've got about a hundred books to sell. I was going to go to a car boot sale and have them all at £1 each, 3 for £2.50. They are a mixture of genres etc, but are all reasonably desirable based on things like risi demand for them. Kids books I'll put at 50p 3 for £1, and cds (all modern artsist) the same as the books.
I just wondered if that sounds reasonable? I was also going to cut it down to 50p 3 for £1 for the last hour or so.

Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I think it depends where you live. Books would not sell for £1 each even if they were in fantastic condition where I live. I usually have to price them at 20p-50p. I have tried selling top quality non-fiction and academic textbooks in the past, but people wouldn't pay more than 50p for them. I'm sure in a more affluent area people would have paid a few quid. Start your books at a £1 and if they don't move revise your prices.0

I agree with Hermia, book priced at £1 wouldn't shift at my local, they have to be priced between 20-50p. I normally price things at what I would be willing to pay for them:j30/7/10:j

The going rate at our local boot sale is 50p each or three for £1. I suppose it all depends on whether you want to shift them to make room at home or if you don't mind them hanging about for a while and doing more boot sales throughout the summer.0

People sell them for about 30p per paperback and 50p-£1 for hardback in Bexhill, East Sussex boot sale.
Where abouts are you?0 -
I'm in Leeds and going to the massive airport car boot. Thanks for the replies, I'll start lower I think.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Always remember - theres always next years carboot and Amazon/Ebay to fill the time between them. I ussually put a medium price for an item at a carboot. Then after not being sold will try to sell on amazon or ebay. I will have a whole year for this. Then come next May i'll sell at the carboot for cheaper if its still not sold.MSE allowed me to see the light0

I was thinking about listing on Amazon instead, by the time I've finished with the cost of buying a table for the car boot, and paying the entrance fee, it's probably cheaper to do it on amazon.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

As with all things, they are worth what someone will pay.
If they are common books, then I wouldn't expect much for them at a car boot and you will be lucky to sell for 1p on Amazon (+ 1.40 or so postage credit).
If there is anything unusual, e.g. new age stuff, then they could sell well on Amazon - certainly worth checking before you pack for the CB.0
