can anyone tell me what the chances of me being able to take Barclays to court and getting a judge to rule against them.

Barclays, I believe 'illegally' by closing all my linked accounts both business and personal similtaneously despite countless appeals before hand with no reply and local branch officials on my side.

Plunged me into a situation whereby I was without any accounts and had no way to pay back anything that I owed.

The worst of it was I had never even been overdrawn for 6 years previous to that and all payments were up to date on any finance that I had.

Barclays were obviously aware of the consequences of their actions and the financial implications that it would have on me personally.
Subsequently I am £54k in unsecured debt still 3 yrs on and can't work through it with all the debts passed to several different debt collection agencies all on behalf of Barclays all still taking token jestures 3yrs down the line.

Now seriously thinking of a long overdue IVA.

I would love to be in a position to take Barclays to court just for reliqueshing their duty of care as a reponsible lender knowingly ignoring any appeals that were made at the time.
They have created their own problem and ruined my financial and personal life in the process.

They were after all getting paid before hand without any problems.
Effectively they took away my income buisiness and plunged me into a financial black hole.

There must be a Judge somewhere who would see sense and rule that what they did was totally unethical and wrong.

looking at all the problems on here It does look like they really do not care about the havoc or consequences they cause to their customers.

THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR DUTY OF CARE TO THEIR PAYING CUSTOMERS AS ''RESPONSIBLE LENDERS''

SORRY FOR THE LONG WINDED FEELINGSFULL RANT TO HOW I FEEL ABOUT BARCLAYS.

I am afraid that the process would be solong and drawn out that I cannot
fiancially bare it and will have to fold and seek the IVA option.

ANY HELP OR ANSWERS FROM SIMILAR WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I think you would need to give a little more info before someone could reply. Why did they close the accounts? Banks do not just close accounts for no reason. Why have you not had an account for 3 years? You will be able to get a basic account with DD and SO facilities

I would have thought any Judge would want a full picture of all the events before they would look at the case, but if you feel you have one, maybe go have a chat with the CAB, they may be able to point you in a direction you can go

    Hi

I have got other personal accounts, that I opened prior to the closure with first direct.
however, ref, the closure of all the my accounts Barclays refused to give a reason for the closure.
aDespite appealing against it for the period up to the closure via the local branch, they refused to give a clear reason for the closing. my local branch rep, was on our side this and dispite him trying to give a little inside info, head office stuck to their no comment or communication policy other than telling the local branch NO to any appeals.

Seems that they had an exit stategi and they stuck to it.

contacted the ombudsman and they were no help whatsoever, they said that the bank could do it and they couldn't intervene.

There was no apparent reason apart from they did not want my custom.
and apparantly they can decide who they choose to have unquestionably.
The fact that I was obviously given credit facilities prior and was managing them fine with a large turnover business att: made no difference.
On closing all the accounts the amount then owed was impossible to repay in one hit as they were all called in at once.
there is no way in my mind that they should be allowed to do this however no one wanted to listen at the time then or now it seems..

It's ironic that due to my loyalty to barclays at the time all of my credit was through them in some form or another even ccards are barclays owned.that they have just gained a black listed load of debt. where prior everything was being paid and managed fine.
I can see this from the huge file of statements that I had them send me after.I can't work out the sense in it at all.

And have suffered as a result of some bank official at head office making a decision that consequently ruined my financial life.

who can I get to listen and help if any?

If you have a business you must have an accountant or a firm you use for your yearly accounts. What do they say?
