Downloading songs onto my mobile help.

I have a lovely Sony Ericsson W800 and I am trying to download songs from my computer to it.

I have all my songs stored on windows media player and I put them into a folder to sync. The windows media device recognises the phone and dowloads songs to it but they go into the sounds menu and not the mp3 part and so they will not play.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or offer any insight on how to sort out.

Are the songs in mp3 format?

Can you upload them using the phones software and not WMP

Not sure . All I know is if I transfer them to my MP3 player then its fine .

I have the software disc provided but it doesn't work. Thanks for mentioning going to the site as I hadn't thought of that I am going to give that a go right now.

Is it possible that they are wma files rather than mp3? I have the same phone, and mp3's always just fall naturally into both menus.

I have the w810i which came with Disc2Phone, but my wife has the w800i, which I think didn't. You should be able to move any files (within the phone, file manager) into the correct folders.

If you can find Disc2Phone, then I can confirm this works with the w800i also.

ok if your software dsk doesn't work go to the sony ericsson website and download the software you need, this is what i did for my phone.

don't try and synch your phone up it's a waste of time, just open up explorer and drag and drop your music into the correct file. your phone should appear in explorer as an external hard drive. have an explore in your phone - i can't remember how the mp3 file is named on the phone it's something wierd - but it will have the free mp3s you get with the phone in it.

use this same method for taking music off too, transferring photos/ films.

Pretty much how i did mine but i used a blue tooth adapter to go into the folders on the phone ......

I managed to download disc2phone and I now I have managed to download loads of songs to my phone.

Very pleased , thanks for all your help
