HSBC Charge

Hi can anyone help, i have checked my bank account today and HSBC have charged me £50 for accidentally going over my overdraught limit tiwce in June, once i had noticed i did rectify this but they say there is nothing they can do to remove the charges. On one occasion was only 1.51 over the limit. Do i have any rights to complain? They have left me short £50 this month and i will be in the same situation because of this!

Thanks

Julie

  • Hiya Jane, I'm new here but I just thought you might find my piece of advice helpful.

Physically go into your branch, tell them what happened, why you are over your overdraft and explain that you can't get your bank back to having a healthy balance unless these charges are waived. Also, promise that you will keep a keener eye on your bank statements and try your hardest not to go over the overdraft again.

That's what I did after having gone over my limit a fair few times. I got £100 of charges refunded. Not the whole amount by a long shot (HSBC have fleeced thousands from me over the years) but it helped a lot.

It might not work but it's worth giving it a shot.
