in Credit cards
Many of you have been receiving letters (see here) from Texaco announcing the card is being closed and customers will be moved to a Lloyds Platinum card. I've just put the phone down after speaking to Lloyds about this, and it came back to say "all current balance transfer deals will continue to be honoured".
In other words those who have 3.9% lob now will keep it on the new card. This doesn't mean new debt can be moved to it, but the existing debts will stay at this rate.
Just to confirm, this offer is only for existing holders of the Texaco card, the card isn't available to new customers.
The following is Lloyds TSB's statement on the subject from Leigh Caulder, Senior Manager, Corporate Relations;
" We are contacting Texaco customers to give them notice that we will be replacing their existing Texaco card with a new Lloyds TSB Platinum card
§ We stopped accepting new applications for the Texaco card at the end of September 2005 and will not issue any new Texaco cards. The promotional balance transfer rate of 3.9% APR for the life of the balance is no longer available
§ Customers who have taken advantage of a promotional balance transfer rate (including the 3.9% APR rate mentioned above) will continue to enjoy the same rate for the same period"
I hope that helps

Martin, thank you so much for investigating this. This is excellent news
The way the letter was worded sounded ominous to me, so to find out they won't actually make me lose my LOB is a big relief.
I did try and ring the helpline over the weekend but after waiting for 50 minutes I gave up
Thanks Martin0 -

Thank you for contacting Texaco, and getting confirmation that the 'life of balance' will be honoured. I wonder why they didn't write that in their letter!
